So I’ve been using Bull Smoke non-stop ever since they updated their technology back in May of 2012 and came back to discuss more of my experience with the brand. My initial review was posted in 2010 but as brands evolve, I come back to make sure I do their analysis some justice.
This latest update really brought Bull Smoke to another level and it seems other electronic cigarette review sites are also raving about the brand. Their prior products were decent, but the upgrade really brought them to the forefront.

eGo Electronic Cigarette Blows Up
This is just one of the many reasons why I don’t recommend the eGo electronic cigarette.
An eGo Electronic Cigarette Started a Car on Fire!
I can’t make this up, which is why I linked to the original story posted online in the above heading.
This happened recently in Arizona, and I’ve summarized the story below in my own words.
JennieBurton and her husband, Lee, were in the hospital in Peoria, Arizona. They left their e-cigarette charging in the car charger, thinking they would come back and have a fully charged e-cigarette battery upon completing their appointment.
However, a news flash came across the loud speaker demanding that the couple return to their vehicle at once!
According to Burton, about “two to three firetrucks and about 20 guys” were at the scene of the car, which had it’s hood up and was charred from the fire. The video posted below shows the scene.

I’m not one to hate or demand a boycott a certain brand as clearly, everyone has their own opinions, likes, and dislikes, and that’s what makes the world interesting. If we all liked the same products and shared the same reviews, what a boring world we’d live in.
However, I don’t like these eGo e-cigarettes for many reasons….
1. I find them very hideous looking. If we are trying to fit in and look like we are smoking cigarettes, and not draw attention to the fact we are smoking an electronic cigarette, then why would we vape on a big, bulky bomb of a battery like the eGo?
2. It uses an atomizer. I’ve never been a fan of exposed atomizers, it just makes it feel like a fire could go off at any time, and in this case, it apparently did.
3. It feels too “modified” for my taste. Almost like someone made it at home. Not saying it’s poor quality, but it’s not in the same league as the main stream, retail-available brands like V2Cigs and Bull Smoke.

This doesn’t resemble a cigarette – which is one of the reasons I’m not a fan of the EGo.

The online market selling electronic cigarettes has grown exponentially since the first eCigs became available less than 5 years ago. It seems like there are an infinite number of brands offering competitive eCigarettes within a relatively close price range. So how can you choose and what should you look for? Here are a few tips to help you shop online for eCigarettes.
1. Read Up!
Read electric cigarette reviews from a number of sites about the best brands out there. Not everyone agrees about which are the very best brands, and you may form your own opinion once you have tried certain brands. Because smoking is really a question of taste, the type of electronic cigarette that appeals to you may be very different from the type that appeals to others. 2. Decide What You Want Before You Find It
Start from what you like already. Do you smoke regularly or just when you are out with your friends? How many packs per day or week do you smoke? Do you like the taste of cigarette smoke or are you really in it for the nicotine? Are you hoping to try different flavors?
Each company will offer some kind of starter deal. Usually they come in a couple of sizes or options, specific to people who smoke just a little or all the time. Within these starter packs, the details can vary greatly. Some eCigarette companies offer a one time discount purchase of a disposable version of their product, in an attempt to induce you to try it out before committing. Other companies go for a variety pack, allowing you to try a couple of flavors and pick your battery color or other specifics, hoping that you will enjoy personalizing the experience a little.
If you just want to try one electronic cigarette, focus on finding companies that offer you that. But make sure they also offer reasonably priced packages and refills so that if you like what you get, you don’t feel at a disadvantage once you decide to buy more.
3. Pricing Comparisons
The price that you will pay over time is the only important price point to understand. Some eCigarette brands will sell you their reusable basic package for what seems like a great deal, but when it comes to refill cartridges they are charging considerably more than their competition. Other companies ask for a big upfront investment, because their products are more durable and include fewer expendable parts, which means you will pay less for the cartridges and the product will probably last longer. Of course, there’s no way to know for sure, but that takes you back to reading reviews. Just make sure that you understand all of the price details, and not just the upfront costs which can be misleading.
It also pays to keep in mind the fact that no matter what, you will probably spend less money on electronic cigarettes than you do on tobacco cigarettes now. That decrease in overall spending is one of the major selling points of most of the biggest and most trustworthy smokeless cigarette brands. You might want to price it out yourself, based on how much you smoke and what brand, but you will probably get a deal in the end no matter which brand you choose.
4. The Little Things
Many companies are smart about their marketing plan and image. While the look of the website might not matter to you when you are smoking, it may tell you something about the dedication and investment of a particular company. If their website and marketing materials seem hastily put together and not well thought out, they may be trying to make a quick buck with an inferior product. Again, reputation matters and hearing from reviewers who are not affiliated with a company can be crucial.
Additionally, you may want to make sure that the ingredients are available for the products you are checking out. While most e-cigarette products are safer to smoke than tobacco cigarettes, that doesn’t mean they are healthy or that they are all made equally. A recent lawsuit in California demonstrated that one major company was selling their product in a way that did not meet consumer protection standards. Be cautious, and notice all the details.
5. Your Look
Smoking, at least when you got started, probably wasn’t about picking up a nicotine addiction. People often start to smoke because they want to look or feel cool. Smoking can be calming for people and is often used as a way to deal with stress or anxiety, which is really about the nicotine. e-Cigarettes offer people a way to smoke and get that nicotine hit, without tarring up their lungs or making their homes, cars, clothing, and mouths smell like an ashtray.
You can purchase e-Cigs which look like cigarettes, down to the glowing red, blue, or even orange end. However you can also go wild with a more personalized style. Electronic cigarettes are sold in a wide variety of colors or patterns, and you can even customize that look with some companies. If you want to make a statement about the way you smoke, you can make it match your outfit or smoke an all black e-cigarette. Whatever you prefer.
The Bottom Line
There are a lot of options and a lot of choices out there for people who want to improve their health and smell better by getting away from tobacco cigarettes, cigars, and pipes. Accordingly, there are way too many options by some people’s standards, and making the decision may not be quick and easy. Are Electronic Cigarettes Safe?
Many people post the question – are electronic cigarettes safe?
It’s a tricky answer, but one that I’ll try to shine some light on today in hopes of converting some of you fellow blog reader’s to the greener side of smoking!
Could this bad boy be healthier than a tobacco cigarette?
To clear the air, there haven’t been any clinical studies done on e-cigarette devices.
When products are so new, so raw, and so controversial, you will always get arguments from both sides of the fence on “are electronic cigarettes healthy?”
Sure, you will hear people speak about how there are NOT any studies as to the potential long term effects of electronic cigarette smoking. But, I’d like to raise the point that there ARE studies on the long term effects of smoking cigarettes with tobacco. The studies are very clear to me. Cigarettes KILL people.
Let’s start with some facts about Cigarettes….
- Tobacco? Check.
- Tar? Check.
- Can cause lung, throat, and mouth cancer? Check.
- 7,000+ Carginogens? Check.
E-Cigarettes do contain a handful of carcinogens. Reports I’ve read are conflicting, but I have read anywhere from 4-100. It doesn’t take a math genius to know that those numbers are much better than the known 7,000+ carcinogens in cigarettes with tobacco.
Second Hand Smoke & It’s Role in Cigarettes
Nobody likes to be around second hand smoke, especially non-smokers. Ask any non-smoker if they mind being around cigarette smoke and 9 times out of 10 you’ll find out that they HATE it. I personally hate being around smoke, and I did a test with many friends of mine who also feel the same way.
I smoked a Bull Smoke E-Cig around them, and asked if anyone was bothered. Not to my amazement, not a single person had a problem with it. In fact, many of the people had small children around and they did not mind that I was smoking the e-cig freely around their children. Simply put, e-cigarette smoking is becoming accepted in society today because there is no lingering odor.
What Makes E-Cigarettes a Health Hazard?
I’d be an idiot if I didn’t discuss both sides of the argument, so here I go.
There still are some carcinogens in electronic cigarettes, which I’ll dig up and list in a future update to my site. However, it goes without much research that carcinogens are NOT good for you or your peers, and should be avoided. I will once again revert back to the numbers I pointed out earlier in the post about what’s inside an e-cigarette versus a tobacco cigarette.
Also, unless you are smoking a nicotine free e-cigarette cartridge, you are still consuming nicotine. Nicotine isn’t all that bad for you, but it is highly addicting.
The dirty truth about nicotine consumption:
- Nicotine reaches the brain within 20 seconds
- Addiction can lead to poor behavior. Nicotine is five to ten times more addicting than morphine or cocaine and has affects that can linger, such as pleasure.
- Once addicted, it’s very hard to quit a nicotine addiction.
- Increases adrenaline flow, which can lead to higher blood pressure.
- Can contribute to sleep disorders.
I paraphrased a magazine when writing why nicotine is bad for you.
Now, I’ll let you all draw your own conclusions on if e-cigs are healthy or not, but I will say, when compared to the “real” thing, there is an obvious answer, isn’t there?
